I have had every operating system (blackberry, palm, android, etc.) and at least 3 phones of each. The operating system matters and the phone itself makes a difference because it needs to have good battery life and be capable of accessing all that the phone operating system is capable of. The windows phone is excellent. Syncing all of my devices, running my phone and Surface and laptop with continuity of programs and content is seamless. I am exceedingly happy with it. The windows operating system has some small features that nobody else has thought of that are the 'killer apps' for me. I can't live without them now. For instance, I have quiet hours on my phone during which time no calls or texts are announced - except from those people who I've put on the 'break through list'. It's genius at night and during my daily meeting. It puts a time stamp on every text. Try living without that once you have had it. It sends an automatic text when I am driving to announce that I am driving and will reply when I'm able. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

This is a great product. The phone is well-built, and feels very substantial in the hand. Windows 8.1 runs smoothly, and I'm looking forward to the Windows 10 upgrade when it becomes available. People tend to complain about the lack of apps in the Windows Store, and its true that Pinterest is not available and Instagram only exists as a Beta, but the Store's selection has improved vastly over the past couple of years, and I expect that Windows 10 will bring an even larger selection. The thing that makes this phone great though, is it's ability to pick up a Wifi signal anywhere. No matter how Wifi-unfriendly the environment may be, this phone finds, locks into and maintains the signal really well. It's too bad that the storage is not expandable, but with 32gb of memory built in, I doubt I'll have an issue. At $99.00 this is an outstanding value, and I highly recommend this product to everyone.

We transfered our Tracfone minutes to this phone and it works great! We live in a rural area and the CDMA carrier (Verizon) has much better coverage than the GSM carrier that Tracfone contracts with. So, we can have smartphone service at Tracfone's reasonable cost ($6/month).
Consider one of these for your parents. Easy to use (we know Windows already) and the unit is much cheaper than the fruit-based or android system smartphones.
Looking forward, this phone also as GSM capabilities if (or when) Verizon switches over to join the rest of the world. So, we are set.

If you don't care about the technical aspects, know that it works well to make phone calls, send texts and take selfies.

This is my second 928. Dropped my first several times and finally broke the screen to where I couldn't use it. Have been using an android based phone for the past few months and I am so glad to be back to a 928. This phone upgrades to 8.1 at no charge and it becomes so much better with it. The upgrade includes Cortana that can help you remember all kinds of things. Auto sync between my computers and the phone is fantastic and keeps everything up to date. It has an awesome camera that takes excellent low light pictures and has nice edit features. I love this phone and recommend it to everyone.

I purchased this phone in such a rush that I didn't even realize it was a windows phone. I had always used androids but it was here and I needed a phone. I really like it. Now please note I don't really use my phone for anything but calls and text if I did I wouldn't like this phone at all because there just aren't any apps for it. The phone came quickly and in great condition. My husband is thinking about switching to a Windows phone because this one is so easy to use.

Windows platform is a great fit for a cell phone, it makes for a very mature experience. I can manipulate Power Points, Spread sheets, Word Docs as well as text, call and do the social media thing; I can do work. I don't need a bunch of games, I'm not 12 years old. This is the platform cell phones should have adopted from the onset but then again that's just me. Thanks for the awesome tool. I'm ever-ready on the go now!
PS Camera is great and the GPS is invaluable.

The camera and amazing xenon flash are great! Having 32GB storage on board really helps, too. My only problem is that I bought it to use on another network (GSM), but couldn't get the cellular data working. This phone works best with the Verizon network. I ended up buying the Lumia 920, exactly the same phone, except for a more standard LED flash. Plus, the 920 works on my cellular network.

This is an old model phone but it's an awesome well-built phone that has a great look and feel. Simple and intuitive interface that can be easily personalized. Setting up emails (even Exchange server emails) is a snap.
It has all the apps I care about. Access to the phone's installed apps is a breeze. One flick of the finger and all apps are displayed alphabetically.
Wish I had bought more!

I was unhappy with my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini that ate up battery life even when I did everything recommended to reduce usage. The Nokia Lumia 928 battery drops only a few percentage points in while not in use. Display is sharp. Call quality is good. Texting is easy. I am extremely happy I made the switch.
